HELPING CAPTIVES PHILOSOPHY

Our Mission: We exist to honor God by providing opportunities for freedom and safety to those exploited by sex trafficking through prevention, intervention, and recovery services.

We hold anonymity, a healing environment, and a safe community with the utmost regard for the women we serve.

UNDERSTANDING

It is through the expertise of our staff that we are able to serve the many complex needs of the women who walk through our doors. Our services take into account addiction, are trauma-informed, and work to heal the whole person: mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Proverbs 24:3-4 says,

“By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”

By understanding how God made us, we gain insight into how to help restore women to God’s original intent: a whole person who loves, is loved by God, in a loving community.

FAITH

While the process of restoration is complex and multifaceted, the beauty and simplicity of the gospel remains the center of each woman’s journey to healing. Many of the women we encounter have experienced homelessness, abuse, addiction, and of course deep trauma. Romans 8:15 states:

“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”

It is the integration of our faith and our expertise that provides a unique and hope-filled environment for those women to find rest, peace, and significant healing from their pasts.

POWER

It is only by the power of the Gospel that lasting change can take place in the women we serve. No matter our expertise, it is the power of the love of God that captures hearts and sets them free. Paul describes this in 1 Corinthians 15:

But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”

Because Christ has overcome death, there is power in our faith and our efforts, and that power is what heals the women at Helping Captives.
